Super Bowl Pick, Quick college hoops blurb

Most people are deep into their Super Bowl analysis. As for me, I am wondering who Stitzer would vote for if Bill Belichick were the republican nominee for President. He might just leave the country at that point…

As far as the Super Bowl is concerned, here are some things I think heading into the big game Sunday:
  • The Bears’ offense is not as bad as people think they are. IN fact, Sexy Rexy makes consistently good decisions, he just does not always execute correctly. The Bears will score some points.
  • On the flip side, the Bears’ defense is not as good as most people think. They have not stopped the run since Tommie Harris and Mike Brown got hurt, and there corners cannot cover people.
  • Bob Sanders has been the Colts MVP of this playoff run, not Peyton Manning. And it hasn’t been close.
  • Now that Peyton Manning got to the big game, all the pressure should come flowing off his shoulders, and he should be set for a huge game on Sunday to cement his legacy.
  • Don’t they announce hall of fame inductions this weekend? If so, and Michael Irvin gets in, I will reiterate my stance that the hall of fame should not be for the very good but for the great and best, which he was not. Keyshawn Johnson already has more receptions than Michael Irvin had….
  • Does Dwight Freeney still play in the NFL? His fall from grace after his first two years makes Jevon Kearse look like a perennial first team all pro.
  • The AFC was balanced and really good this year. The NFC was balanced and (though improving) not as good. This will show itself to be true on Sunday.
  • Is Prince still relevant? If not, what are he and his degenerative hip doing playing at halftime?
  • Will Andy Reid be at the game just to get away from his deranged children? Who knew? Maybe he can send them off to live with T.O. as punishment.
  • Marvin Harrison, who has been the best receiver in the NFL over the last decade, is being overlooked. How can this be? Look for Marvin (a Philly guy) to torch the Bears for 140+ yards and at least two touchdowns.
  • America will learn Bernard Berrian’s name Sunday (even though some of us knew it when he played at Fresno St).
  • Dallas Clark does not have a favorable matchup.
  • The Colts will win and cover the 6.5 (that’s right, it went to 6.5 in at least one place). The game will also go OVER 48.5. My record on the NFL is 58-50 so far, including 1-0 in my Dils Game of the Year selections!

I know this is a football weekend, but one college hoops note: Arizona may have been #6 in the RPI going into yesterday, but they are now 5-5 in the Pac-10 and have lost something like 6 of their last 8 overall, including the last two at home. They are officially on the bubble to get into the tourney, and may not make it if Marcus Williams does not get back in the lineup. And it is such a joy to watch UCONN on the outside looking in. It could not happen to a bigger scumbag that Jim Calhoun.

Enjoy the Super Bowl Sunday. For my KP’s sake, go Colts!

well, Irvin got in. The NFL once again proved that it the HOF = being a very good player on a team that won, as opposed to a great player on a team that never won a championship.

I invite everyone to go look at Lynn Swann's stats versus Wesley walker's stats...and then tell me who the HOFer is.

Canton should be blown up until Joe Klecko is admitted - only guy ever to make the Pro Bowl @ DE, DT, & NT, has a Defensive Player of the year award yet is not in Hall
