The Phillies....Ugh
There is not much to say after yesterday's debacle.
Depressing.
Their best players came up so small when it counted most. Disappointing, although based on our city's track record, not all that surprising.
What odds would Vegas have given you that Chase Utley would go 0-for-4 with 4 strikeouts, on only 13 total pitches?
They could not hit a guy they have owned in the past.
They had only two different innings where they collected any hits at all, and one of those innings was simply an innocent single from the pitcher.
The good news is, the Phillies have put their backs up against the wall, which seems to be when they perform at their best. They have to win 3 of the next 4 to advance, a monumental task against a team that has won 15 of its last 16.
And today they send a rookie out to the hill with the season on the line. I do not think it is hyperbolic to say this is the biggest start of Kyle Kendrick's life. The youngster is 7-1 in the familiar surroundings of Citizen's Bank Park, and has shown no deer in the headlights looks or behavior all year, so just maybe....
I will be at the yard today, wishin' and hopin' and prayin'..... and drinkin'.....
Let's Go Phils!
