World Series Pick, BC/Va Tech

Well, the World Series starts tonight. The Red Sox are coming off a comeback in which they beat the Indians to a pulp in three straight must win games. The Rockies are coming off winning 21 of their last 22, all in highly pressurized situations. The Rockies have the possible rookie of the year in the NL. The Red Sox have the possible rookie of the year in the NL (I picked both to win in my end of season predictions, meaning they will likely both lose). The Rockies have one of the best hitters of the last decade in Todd Helton. The Red Sox have perhaps one of the best hitters off all-time in Manny. His on-base percentage in the playoffs with an 0-2 count is something like 63. Insane. The Rockies have the guy who should finish second in the MVP voting in the NL this year. The Red Sox have a perennial MVP candidate in David Ortiz. The Red Sox have one of the best pitchers in the league who gets even better in the playoffs in Josh Beckett. The Rockies have a decent pitcher who has turned into Sandy Koufax in the playoffs in Jeff Francis. The Red Sox have probably the best closer in the game today in Papelbon. The Rockies have a potential cheater as their closer who lubricates himself with liquid of some kind and dirt in Corpas. The Red Sox lose a #4 starter to the DL. The Rockies gain a #4 starter from the DL.

Will 8 straight days off hurt the Rockies mojo? Will the Rockies rookie pitchers be able to hold up under the pressure of the biggest spotlight? Will a team that has no World Series experience be able to beat a team that is supposed to win World Series'?

Will a guy that has beaten all the odds and picked 13 straight series incorrectly continue to amaze everyone and do it again for the 14th straight time?

The Colorado Rockies, your 2007 World Series Champions. Troy Tulowitski, MVP.

While Colorado is moving towards a World Series title, their will be a huge college football game in Blacksburg, VA tomorrow night, when the Hokies/Gobblers host the Eagles of Boston College. BC is ranked #2 in the BCS standings, which is not a good place to be. The #2 team has lost each of the last three weeks, and going on the road at night to play the #8 team in the country is no easy task. BC has great experience with 13 senior starters to deal with the crowd, the pressure, and the Hokies, but, alas, it will not be enough. Look for Virginia Tech win by more than a touchdown as they knock off #2.

More college football, pro football, and Breeders Cup stuff, World Series coverage and who knows what else this week.....
