Dils NCAA and NFL Picks; Bowl Pool Update (Sat & Sun)

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Below are my NFL and NCAA picks for this week, followed by the bowl pool update.....

College Picks (Overall: 40-34, 54%)

These are my best bowl picks between now and next Friday, when I will be back with my picks for most of the rest of the bowl season.

East Carolina (+4.5) vs. South Florida. Skip Holtz has done a great job with this program, and there is no reason that South Florida should be favored by this many. The public has been fooled in this one, take the points.

Florida State (+4.5) vs. UCLA. FSU underachieved all year, but they have more talent than UCLA and are getting a healthy amount of points. UCLA peaked emotionally in their real bowl game when they upset USC. The Seminoles cover and probably win outright.

Kansas State (+7.5) vs. Rutgers. K St. has played better the second half of the season and this will be a building block under their first year coach. Rutgers cannot help but avoid a letdown after they had been primed for a BCS game all year and then lost an emotional 3-OT game in Morgantown to end the regular season.

NFL Picks (Last Week 4-1; Overall Season: 45-39, 54%)

Carolina (+6.5) at Atlanta. I don't care how much Carolina has packed it in, no way you can lay this many points with the Falcons and Michael Vick.

St. Louis (-1.5) vs. Washington. The Skins with Jason Campbell will come back to earth after a big road win last week.

Indianapolis (-9) at Houston. They have owned Houston since they became the Texans.

Pittsburgh (-3.5) vs. Baltimore. Still do not believe in Baltimore. Pittsburgh is coming on strong.

Chicago (-5) at Detroit. Grossman is playing better. Lookk for an inspired Bears defense after a putrid effort last week. And the Detroit fans are planning the Millen Man March during the game.

Cincy (+3) at Denver. Denver has a banged up secondary. Look for Palmer to put up the points.

Seattle (+4.5) vs. San Diego. I d not care how bad Seattle has been, and how great the Chargers have looked. I am always taking Seattle at home getting 4.5 points. Always.

EAGLES (+7) at Dallas. Dallas has a banged up secondary. Their 3-4 defense is going to be tough to slow down Westbrook. Garcia is playing great mistake free football. Birds at least keep it close in their third straight road game, and have a shot to win it outright.

Jets (+2.5) at Miami. After picking the Jets to make th eplayoffs on the George Rogers show this week, I better pick them to win this one.

First year in the bowl bonanza and other than having the urge to ask if there is a pot for someone that can go 0-32 (I'm 0-3 so far), I was wondering historically, what kind of point total has won this thing in the past.

I'm guessing that to win it, someone will need to hit 62-64% of the total points available

so 528 x .63 = 332 pts. I'll guess that the winner scores 330
